Whispering TRees (Installation)
8 Channel Ambisonics installation at Strange Brew, Bristol
Group Exhibition Curated by Cellar Door for International Women’s Day
Whispering Trees is an electronic ambient soundscape merging traditional soundscape with electronic music components exploring the voice of the forest by taking you on a journey through microsounds, field recordings and passages from Finding the Mother Tree by Suzanne Simard. The piece explores giving agency to the forest world, finding a dialogue between the non-human and human reflected in the use of human voice. Each sound in this piece is made from sap recordings, merging the real with the augmented. The more musical elements have been created through the development of the Sap Synth to find new voices within them, allowing us to hear the unheard.
The installation was part of a multimedia group exhibition that celebrated works from women and those who identify as female. The exhibition ran alongside a gig in the main space at Strange Brew.
